St Andrew's Church, Much Hadham

Welcome to St Andrew's

We usually meet every Sunday of the month at 9:15 am. Children are welcome at all our services and every first Sunday we have an informal service for all ages. Children's Church - our Sunday group for children of primary school age - does not meet at the moment but there is an activity at the back of the church. Much Hadham Baby and Toddler Group is led by Steve and Val (the Rector and his wife), meeting on Thursdays in term-time, 9:30 am to 11:30 am, in Much Hadham Village Hall. Messy Church, for families with children from birth to year 6, meets every third Saturday in the church, 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

Our church is shared with the Roman Catholic congregation of Holy Cross.

Our building dates back to around 1220 when the Chancel was built although it has changed much since that date. There are many fine features in the church: medieval work in the choir stalls, including beautifully carved poppy heads; a rare Easter Sepulchre; a number of memorials, the oldest being in 1332; a collection of eight bells, restored in 2018, in the Tower with two of the bells dating back to the reign of Elizabeth 1; many beautiful windows including a "Tree of Life" based on an etching by Henry Moore, a famous local resident; a fantastic collection of kneelers dating back to the 1970's and many other architectural features and furnishings.   "A Guide to Much Hadham Parish Church" is available for £1 in the church and provides much more information on the building and its contents. The church is usually open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
